Creating A Website
There are millions and millions of websites out there on the web, the information available on the internet is practically endless. Every day more and more sites are added to the web. Creating a website isn’t hard although many people think it is. Websites are created using HTML code. You don’t need a special code editor to write HTML in, you can use notepad (already built in most computers). HTML technically is not a programming language even though a lot people think it is. It’s what is called a mark-up language. A mark-language simply is a text-formatting language that turns raw text and data into organized structures.
The difference between a mark-up language and a programming language is that in a programming language data is taken into a program then spit back out once it’s been processed, a mark-up language just organizes and makes raw text/data readable. In short a programming language processes data and a mark-up language just makes text nice/organized. However since not everyone knows how to write HTML code, there are other ways to create websites. There are several software programs that provide templates for users to create websites without actually writing any HTML code. Even if you know how to use HTML using software like what I described above allow you to create websites a lot faster than if you were to manually code it, which can be very tedious and a pain.
The different software programs available that provide templates to create websites with are very easy to use. Most of them have a tool bar at the top that allows you to add text boxes, links, Titles, images, videos, navigation bars, and plenty of other features that you might want to your site. The best website programming software out there is probably Dreamweaver. However you need to know HTML though to use it. Also there are websites on the internet that have free website building software that a very user friendly. Some sites that offer free web site building are webstarts.com and tripod.com. After you create your website you need to name it and create a domain name for it. If you use one of these free sites they give you a sub domain within their website (an example would be webstarts.com/Your_Site).
To get a completely separate domain name you would have to purchase one (www.yourwebsite.com). Different sites and companies sell domain names at different prices. Sometimes they’ll allow you to pay for a domain name by month or a yearly fee. Domain names are relatively inexpensive. You can purchase them from Go Daddy.com and other sites. In order to get your site on the web you have to have a place where it can be hosted. Web site hosting is like a place where you web site can be house and stored. Just like a domain name, you have to purchase website hosting. Website hosting is relatively in expensive. In most of these free web site programs you can choose to view your website in open source HTML code, which will allow you to paste in code. Since people like to monetize their websites using Google Adsense, having the ability to edit the actual HTML code is a great feature. If you’ve got something to share with the world a great way to do it is through creating your own website.
